For this assignment, we were asked to create a skull look for a living gallery type situation, so I took my aesthetic and created an SFX style skull makeup to present.
This look was inspired by a hat I bought at a Kacey Musgraves concert after her cover of the Brooks and Dunn song, “Neon Moon” was released. Her version of this song entrances me, so I created my character in her neon cowgirl world.

The Details
Besides my own neon dreams, I thought it would be a great opportunity to stretch my shading muscles a bit. I had to pick where the light on my face would be originating from, then how the glow would radiate throughout the shape. The white represents the highest area of luminosity in a neon light. I didn’t have a true neon color in my palette, so I mixed and played with my cream makeups until I got a hot pink and a light pink, then found where I wanted the hard lines of shadow to hit hard lines of highlight, and blended the rest to achieve a glow effect.

This looks awesome! I love skull makeup. I only did it once a while back, but it’s so fun for Halloween!
